IRS Announces 2008 Standard Mileage Rates


IRS Announces 2008 Standard Mileage Rates: The IRS issued the 2008 standard mileage rates for determining the deductible costs of operating a vehicle for business, charitable, medical, or moving purposes. Beginning on January 1, 2008, the standard mileage rates for the use of a car (including vans, pickups, or panel trucks) will be (1) 50.5 cents per mile for business miles driven, compared to 48.5 cents per mile for 2007; (2) 19 cents per mile for medical or moving purposes, compared to 20 cents per mile last year; and (3) 14 cents per mile for service to a charitable organization, which is set by law.  HOW INTERNET EXPLORER 7 AFFECTS YOU

Last week Microsoft started to make Explorer 7 available to customers by manual download, and we expect Microsoft to begin automatic distribution of the Update soon. Therefore you need to be aware of how this update could affect working in various versions of QuickBooks financial software.

The Auto Updates will go to Microsoft customers running Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.

Internet Explorer 7 will affect aspects of performance in some versions of QuickBooks® software.

  • QuickBooks 2007 and QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 7.0 – works with Internet Explorer 7
  • QuickBooks 2006 and QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 6.0 – update to Release 8 and then accept Internet Explorer 7.
  • QuickBooks 2005 in a future update. Please check www.QuickBooks.com/support/IE7 periodically for updates on a solution. -  We recommend that you decline the Auto Update for Internet Explorer 7 at this time.
  • QuickBooks Online Edition – works with Internet Explorer 7
  • QuickBooks Point of Sale versions 4.0, 5.0 and 6.0  - works with Internet Explorer 7
  • QuickBooks 2004 and prior versions will not function properly on Internet Explorer 7  - we recommend that you decline the Auto Update for Internet Explorer 7.

You Can Go Back. If you install Internet Explorer 7 and then realize you are having issues with these older versions of QuickBooks, we recommend that you revert from Internet Explorer 7 back to Internet Explorer 6. Instructions for this reversion are posted on our Internet Explorer 7 Resource Center at http://www.quickbooks.com/support/ie7.
